Columbia Station, OH – Fairways Golf is now managing and operating Dragon Ranch Golf Club. “We are excited to be growing in Northeast Ohio and empowering the local communities and citizens to enjoy all of our offerings,” explains Jonathan Palmer, President of Fairways Golf.
The acquisition of Dragon Ranch grows Fairways Golf’s portfolio to four courses. As Fairways Golf continues to grow and make an impact on Northeast Ohio golf and our communities, the mission will remain the same: to provide the absolute best value and quality to golfers from all walks of life.
Along with Dragon Ranch, Fairways Golf also manages and operates Mallard Creek Golf Club and Pine Brook Golf Links and is partnered with Briarwood Golf Club. At Fairways Golf, their first decade in business is nearly in the books, but they are just getting started.
Dragon Ranch’s addition to the Fairways Golf portfolio also means that it will be included as a part of the 2018 and 2019 Fairways Golf Membership. This membership, a Northeast Ohio staple of great golf at a great value, has been considered Ohio’s best golf value since 2009 – and the value is only getting better.
The Fairways Golf Membership allows members to play Unlimited Golf at Dragon Ranch, Mallard Creek, Briarwood and Pine Brook and is good for all of 2018 and 2019. The membership cost is $398 total (for two seasons) and is valid on weekends and holidays, as well.
“It has always been a strong belief of mine that golf should be accessible to everyone. That is why we created the membership in 2009 and have continued to grow the offerings and products included within the membership since. This is a great game that has so much value to people and it is fantastic to see our members enjoy it on this level. What we are doing in golf is, in my opinion, the best movement for the game and its future. There is nothing else like this anywhere in the country.” explains Palmer.
Improvements and upgrades to the course have already begun at Dragon Ranch and will continue through the Fall and into the Spring of 2018.
New equipment and an optimized and expanded chemical plan have improved the turf and overall conditions at Dragon Ranch. “It is a process getting a course to exactly where it should be, but we are well on our way. The course features a fun and challenging layout, and we have already seen major improvements in the short time we have been here. There is no telling just how good the course will be when we get to where we are going,” reasons Superintendent, Brett Sekerak.

Greene Square Restaurant: Now Open
On October 28, the restaurant located inside of the clubhouse at Dragon Ranch officially reopened as Greene Square Restaurant.
Constructed in 2006, the restaurant accommodates about 85 patrons and features an expansive dining area, full bar and an outdoor patio overlooking the golf course.
Named Greene Square, the restaurant is an homage to the Palmer’s family love for the Savannah, Georgia area and its connection to Southern comfort food. David Kovatch, the Executive Chef at Greene Square, has created a menu featuring well-thought and decadent dishes.
With locally sourced ingredients and items such as hushpuppies, fried green tomatoes, chicken wings, shrimp and grits, grilled pizza and more, the selections at Greene Square are sure to leave patrons happy and full.
Greene Square is not the first restaurant venture for Jonathan Palmer, who most recently built and managed Bootleggers Bar & Grille in Columbia Station. Palmer was also a consultant for Columbia Hills Golf & Swim Club when they reconfigured their dining options in 2014.
“It’s an eclectic and fun menu inspired by Savannah, Georgia’s world-famous food culture. From our mainstays to our specials, I am excited to see everyone enjoy our menu and their experience here at Greene Square,” remarks Executive Chef, David Kovatch.
“No other restaurant in or around Cleveland has a menu like ours. It really is something special and unique.”

A New Era
It is an exciting time at Dragon Ranch Golf Club as a new era is ushered in.
“The opportunity to manage and operate Dragon Ranch is one I simply could not pass up. From growing the game to making golf more accessible, reopening the restaurant to improving our ties to the local community, I am thrilled to see what the future holds for all of us at Dragon Ranch and Fairways Golf,” exclaims Palmer.
